About Grayscale PDF Copy

A grayscale or black-and-white PDF copy is useful for scanned paperwork, draft printing, classroom handouts, and documents that should be easier to print without color ink. The tool runs locally and creates a new PDF from rendered page images.

Because pages are rasterized, selectable text, links, and vector sharpness may be lost. File size can also increase, especially when the original PDF was mostly text. Start with balanced settings and compare the output size before sharing.

For scan preparation without rasterizing pages, use the PDF Scan Cleanup Kit. If the grayscale output is too large, try Compress PDF after checking readability.
