What you should know

Decrypting a PDF removes a known open password so you can read, archive, or process the file without typing the password each time. You must already know the password.

  • Only removes known passwords - enter the existing open password to unlock the file locally.
  • No password recovery - this tool does not brute-force, guess, or crack unknown passwords.
  • Check signatures afterward - rewriting a protected PDF may invalidate digital signatures or change permission behavior.
  • Does not always remove restrictions - permission passwords and editing limits depend on how the PDF was protected.

This batch tool processes multiple PDFs at once, applying the same operation to every file you upload. It runs entirely in your browser — files are never sent to a server — and results are packaged for easy download.

  • Upload multiple files — drag and drop a folder or select individual PDFs to process in one go.
  • Same settings for all files — configure the operation once and it is applied uniformly across the batch.
  • Results packaged for download — processed files are bundled into a ZIP archive for convenience.

About Decrypt PDF

Decrypt PDF removes a known open password from a PDF so the file can be opened without typing that password every time. It is useful for documents you created yourself, files you are authorized to manage, or internal archives where the password is no longer needed.

You must know the current password. This tool does not recover lost passwords or crack encrypted PDFs, because that would require brute-force attacks that are slow, unreliable, and potentially illegal. Once the correct password is entered, the tool rebuilds a password-free copy.

You forgot the passwordNoThe tool does not attempt password recovery.
The file has editing or printing restrictionsSometimesPermission restrictions depend on how the PDF was protected.

Processing happens locally in your browser. The file and password are never uploaded to a server. This keeps the operation safer for sensitive documents than cloud unlockers, especially when the file contains contracts, invoices, HR files, or personal records.

After decrypting, check whether the page count, text, images, forms, and signatures still behave as expected. Digital signatures may become invalid after a PDF is rewritten. If you need to handle many protected files with the same password, use Batch Decrypt PDF. For re-protecting the result, use Encrypt PDF.
