Compress PDF Online for Free

A scan-heavy PDF with lots of images usually drops by 40–70%. A text-only document with vector graphics might only shrink 10–20% because it is already close to its minimum size.

Text and vector graphics stay sharp. Photos and scanned pages are re-compressed at a slightly lower JPEG quality, which is usually fine for screen reading but may show subtle artifacts if you print at large sizes.

Most browsers handle files up to about 100 MB before timing out. If your PDF is larger, try splitting it into chapters first, then compress each part separately.

Basic metadata is usually preserved. If you need to strip author info or redact sensitive fields, use a dedicated metadata cleaner after compressing.

Gmail and Outlook cap attachments at 25 MB. If your file is still over that after compression, try the "Compress PDF to 1 MB" setting or split the PDF into smaller sections.
